The Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting southern Nevada residents and commuters to participate in a new survey assessing the effectiveness and usage of High Occupancy Vehicle lanes in the region. The survey is a key opportunity for the public to share insights on their experiences with the HOV system, helping shape its future to better serve the community.
“This survey marks an important step in understanding how Nevadans use and benefit from the HOV lanes,” said NDOT spokesperson Kelsey McFarland. “We’re committed to enhancing the HOV system to ensure it meets the needs of all users, supports efficient travel, and promotes safety across the state.”
The survey, accessible at dot.nv.gov/HOVStudy, takes approximately five minutes to complete and covers topics such as travel patterns, peak hour usage, and suggestions for potential improvements. The survey is available now through Friday, December 13, 2024. NDOT encourages all Interstate 15 and Interstate 11/US 95 users, particularly local residents and workers, to participate and make their voices heard.
In 2023, the Nevada Transportation Board of Directors voted to change HOV lane operating hours to weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The board also directed NDOT to conduct a National Environmental Policy Act study to determine the future of HOV lanes in southern Nevada. By gathering public feedback, NDOT aims to evaluate if these hours and lane policies align with the community’s needs and expectations.
