Clark County to Redevelop Las Vegas Commercial Center

Clark County is considering redevelopments surrounding the Commercial Center in Las Vegas.

Among the redevelopment efforts are discussions about a potential surf park and Fremont Street Experience. The County has spent millions of dollars purchasing the parking lot and two aging buildings in the Commercial Center and has directed instructed officers to act as security on the site.

Clark County commissioners stated the County is finally prepared to make proper renovations to the site. Commissioners mentioned plans to renovate one of the purchased properties and to raze the other. The County is also considering buying more properties in the area.

The restaurant Lotus of Siam is intending a return to the Commercial Center as well, which has some County officials excited. Commissioners believe the transformation of the Center from its current state to a tourist destination will take a long time but are optimistic that it can be done.

Commissioners are eyeing making the area an entertainment destination for both tourists and locals. The County intends to capture a “town square” feel. Reports stated the County received $10M to invest in the area. (Source)
