A Clark County District Court judge recently declined a request to cease construction of the 900-bed Campus for Hope project at West Charleston and South Jones blvds.
The transitional housing complex is proposed as a $200M project under development by the State of Nevada and the Campus for Hope Foundation. Overland Partners, Inc. is the design firm. (NVBEX, Jan. 22; June 25)
An injunction to pause the project was being pursued by community groups who shared concerns surrounding funding, zoning and neighborhood character. The Court found that construction can proceed while those questions are addressed.
Funding is possible through the 2023 matching funds program, which allows a State-fund match for housing facilities targeted at individuals and families at risk of homelessness. Clark County experienced a year-over-year increase in homelessness of 20% from January 2023-January 2024.
