The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley announced it plans to build a new campus in Silver Springs during a Lyon County Board of County Commissioners meeting earlier this month.
According to project representatives, Berger Hannafin Architecture is the architect. Prime West Construction is serving as the general contractor.
The 13.7KSF campus will consist of a clubhouse and an early learning center. The clubhouse will serve children ranging from kindergarten to high school, while the early learning center will prioritize preschoolers.
The facility will have several rooms and spaces to accommodate different programs and activities aimed at different age groups.
A shared commercial kitchen and cafeteria are planned. Teen members will have a 1.2KSF exclusive space. The early learning space will feature three dedicated rooms to provide a space for infants, toddlers and preschoolers while their parents are at work. The clubhouse will have vaulted ceilings and a central recreation room.
The new campus is planned on a four-acre site next to the community’s school at the corner of Topaz Street and Spruce Avenue.
The announcement came as a presentation during the Board’s April 2 meeting. According to a press release, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley is discussing the campus with “major donors to make this happen.” The nonprofit is also taking public donations here.
The presentation included a timeline that indicated the building plans had already been finalized as of March. A conditional use permit application was slated to be submitted on April 20.
Permit approvals are expected by October. The project is planned to break ground within the last two months of the year. While an official estimate has yet to be announced, representatives anticipate construction costs of somewhere between $6.5M and $7M.
