Lawsuit Against Lone Mountain LDS Temple Dismissed

Litigation against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ 70KSF Lone Mountain Temple at Hickman Avenue and Grand Canyon Drive in Las Vegas was recently dismissed.

The District Court was asked by the nonprofit Nevada Rural Preservation Alliance to review the City’s approval process, as it believed the City acted illegally and circumvented zoning regulations limiting commercial and industrial projects.

A lawsuit was later filed by a separate group of residents. Locals alleged the City violated open meeting laws during the approval consideration process. They were also concerned the maximum height of the building would be nearly 200 feet due to its steeple, which they fear will contribute to the temple permanently damaging the neighborhood’s current character.

The Las Vegas Planning Commission approved a request to abandon a City-owned easement for construction of the temple in November 2024. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed the architect of the project is PGAL and the general contractor is Martin-Harris Construction.
