Reno Planning Commission Recommends Zone Change for Lakeridge Golf Course Hotel

A zoning change for the proposed Lakeridge Golf Course Hotel recently received a recommendation for approval from the Reno Planning Commission.
Duncan Golf Management is the owner, and Wood Rodgers Inc. is the architect. According to project representatives, a general contractor has yet to be selected.
As proposed, the hotel will contain 100 rooms across four stories. Preliminary estimates show construction costs will be around $100M.
Additional amenities include a spa, restaurant, bar, 15 villas, two pools, sports courts, garden and parking.
The owner intends to use the open space toward the north side of the existing Lakeridge Golf Course to build the resort-style hotel. The plans will not impact the course.
The owners said the hotel will also add dining options and additional amenities to better serve the community. The proposal previously appeared before the Planning Commission in 2021. The Commission had recommended it for denial.
Concerns were levied surrounding the traffic on McCarran Blvd. The Regional Transportation Commission is currently working to expand the roadway.
Residents speaking against the proposed hotel spoke for more than an hour. Additionally, there were more than 200 pages of public comment sent to the Planning Commission. Concerns also touched on the loss of open space, neighborhood compatibility and noise.
Representatives said the project will be the first of its kind in Reno. Developers aim to bring together residents, visitors and recreation to enhance the existing golf course and strengthen the overall community. The project is intended to provide a location where people can connect with one another in an elevated environment.
The project will next appear before the Reno City Council at an undisclosed date. Project representatives said that if everything goes to plan, groundbreaking will occur sometime toward the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027.
