Seasonally adjusted Nevada Construction employment remained mostly flat in May after heavy swings in the first few months of 2026.
The sector experienced a seasonally adjusted gain of 100 positions, which accounts for a growth rate of 0.1% month-over-month. This has been an overwhelmingly positive year for the Construction industry, with only March reporting losses. In addition, the beginning of the year saw a 10,000-position upward revision.
Currently, there are 116,000 Construction jobs in the state. This means the previous report was revised downward by 700 roles. The December 2025 report listed 101,800 total jobs.
The highest Construction employment total to end a year was 142,200 in 2005. In 2006, the total continued to rise to 146,600 before falling to 137,700 by the end of the year.
Construction currently accounts for 7.2% of overall nonfarm jobs in the Silver State, according to nevadaworkforce.com.
In terms of year-over-year data, the sector is up 4,500 positions, a 4.0% improvement.

Non-Seasonally Adjusted Construction Data
Non-seasonally adjusted Construction employment experienced a drastically different May compared to its seasonally adjusted counterpart. Non-seasonal data boasted a gain of 1,900 positions MoM, or 1.2%.
This data set lists the total number of Construction-related jobs at 117,000. YoY, the sector increased by 5,000 jobs, or 4.5%.
Non-seasonally adjusted data is split into two subcategories: Construction of Buildings and Specialty Trade Contractors. The smaller of the two, Construction of Buildings, experienced a gain of 400 positions MoM, or 2.1%.
The subsector has grown by 100 positions YoY, bringing its total to 19,300. At one point, the sector had 26,500 jobs. It currently makes up 1.2% of statewide nonfarm jobs.
Specialty Trade Contractors currently has 86,900 positions, which is 5.4% of the overall nonfarm job pool. The subsector is still shy of its 107,200-job peak.
In the latest report, the subsector gained a substantial 1,700 jobs, which reflects a healthy 2.3% growth rate. YoY, the sector has increased by 6.2%, or 5,100 positions.
Seasonally Adjusted Non-Construction Fields
The closely related Manufacturing sector saw a marginal increase in May. The sector gained 400 positions MoM, reversing its April losses.
With 68,600 positions in total, Manufacturing has continued its strong performance by setting a new all-time high. The sector has grown by 900 positions YoY, marking a 1.3% increase.
Like Construction, Manufacturing is also split into two subsectors: Durable Goods and Nondurable Goods. Durable Goods gained 200 positions MoM, which is an increase of 0.4%. The subsector accounts for 46,200 total positions, which is now its all-time high. YoY, the subsector has gained 900 jobs, which is an increase of 2.0%.
Nondurable Goods make up the remaining 22,400 Manufacturing jobs, which is just 600 below record levels. The subsector also saw a 200-job increase, which reflects a gain of 0.9%. The sector has remained completely flat YoY.
Most sectors remained largely flat during May; however, there were two outliers: Trade, Transportation and Utilities and Professional and Business Services. The former shed 1,400 positions MoM, while the latter gained 2,600 positions MoM.
Unemployment Metropolitan Statistical Area Data
According to a report by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, unemployment throughout the state declined to 5.2%. Additionally, the labor force decreased by 3,780 individuals.
The report goes on to say, “The seasonally adjusted total number of nonfarm jobs in Nevada was 1,609,300, representing an increase of 1.8% over the past year and an increase of 800 jobs since April 2026.”
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area gained 1,000 jobs MoM and 19,600 jobs YoY. The Reno MSA lost 600 jobs MoM but is still up 4,300 positions YoY. The Carson City MSA shed 200 jobs MoM and 100 jobs YoY.
