An updated proposal for a Vegas Loop station at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is slated to appear before the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents.
The new proposal will include paid parking and revenue-sharing with the University. Part of the reason the initial proposal was denied was due to the concern that people would use the parking lot to park and take the Vegas Loop to the airport, leaving their cars behind and clogging University parking.
UNLV students and faculty will receive discounted ticket prices once the station is completed.
The Boring Company is the developer behind the Vegas Loop project. The project consists of 104 stations throughout Las Vegas, primarily linked via underground tunnels. The Loop will stretch for 68 miles and is expected to be completed sometime between 2028 and 2029. The Vegas Loop has appeared in several NVBEX articles. Currently, there are 11 stations in operation.
The Board of Regents discussed the project last week and is expected to review the project again on June 22. This station would require approval from both UNLV and Clark County.
The UNLV station would be located near the Thomas & Mack Center. The Boring Co. would cover all costs related to construction, maintenance and operations, while UNLV would officially own the station. (Source: Las Vegas Sun)
